Financial Inclusion Expert
Lisa has 5-years experience in inclusive financial services, focusing more particularly on the microinsurance sector. Associated with PHB since 2015, she provides technical assistance to microfinance institutions, banks and insurance companies in a wide range of activities, including strategic planning, product and process development/refinement, risk management, qualitative and behavioural research and cost analysis.
Lisa recently coordinated a number of market research studies, aiming to guide the development of new products and/or the formulation of business cases for various organizations. She conducted such studies in India, in the Philippines, in Kenya and in Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, Lisa supervised an in-depth market study with the goal of defining a 3-years strategy and identifying the right business model for Kifiya, a technology platform willing to enter the microinsurance sector (2015). In Kenya, she participated to the design of a behavioural market research to refine Britam’s microinsurance product line (2015).
Lisa has an extensive experience in operational process (re)engineering (Government of Andrah Pradesh, 2014 ; Equity Bank Kenya, 2014-2015 ; Care India, 2014 ; Tujijenge, 2015 ; etc.), in portfolio audit (GoFinance Chennai, 2013), in cost analysis/activity-based costing (Tujijenge, 2015) and in agent network management (Equity Bank, 2014-2015).
Lisa has also been involved in project evaluations, most recently with the Support Project to Inclusive Finance Development in Cabo Verde (ADA, 2015), covering the capacity building of macro, meso and micro stakeholders, the design of a new regulatory framework and the strengthening of the local professional association of MFIs over 4 years. Lisa also implemented institutional assessments of MFIs, covering governance, financial and social performance, MIS, etc. (Tujijenge, 2015).
Before joining PHB, Lisa worked as Senior Consultant (based in India) at MicroSave (2013-2015) and as a Research Officer for DHAN Foundation in India (2013) and for the Microinsurance Network, in Luxembourg (2011-2012). She has worked in countries like India, Kenya, Luxembourg, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Cabo Verde and the Philippines.
Lisa regularly contributes to sectorial studies, such as the Landscape of Microinsurance in Asia and Oceania (Munich Re Foundation and GIZ, 2013), Governance in Indian Microfinance Institutions (SIDBI, 2014), or Disaster Management and Microfinance Institutions in the Philippines (Opportunity International, 2015). Lisa wrote several briefing notes and blogs for MicroSave and is a member of the Microinsurance Network since 2011.
Lisa has a Masters degree in Development Economics and International Cooperation from the Toulouse Institute of Political Sciences (2011). She is certified in Process Mapping and Engineering (2013), Market Research for Inclusive Finance Product Development (2014) and Strategic Planning (2014). She also received a one-month intensive training in Behavioural Research Design, performed by GRID Impact. Lisa speaks fluently French, English and Spanish.
