Distribution channels, Operations and IT Expert
Ronald is a knowledgeable project manager and consultant with 20 years of experience in all financial distribution channels: branches, call, internet and mobile banking. He worked for the Dutch international ING bank for 18 years. Ronald’s key specialty is the practical application of IT with emphasis on the needs of interface users for both the employees in the financial institutions and for the clients.
Since joining PHB Development in 2014, Ronald worked with MFIs, FIs and national Banks in DR Congo, Malawi and the Netherlands. He led several projects covering organisation capabilities scans, market studies and management of two pilots agent banking. First he led a project to facilitate the expansion of Opportunity International. In order to expand from the Kinshasa area into the Katanga region, he conducted an organisation capabilities scan in Kinshasa and facilitated a market study in Katanga. In addition, he managed a study to introduce mobile banking in Kinshasa. In Malawi Ronald organised a pilot in agent banking, while advising on the professionalization of the IT project organization of Opportunity International. Furthermore, Ronald maximised the synergy between the OI branches and agent / mobile banking. More recently, Ronald assessed projects for the Netherlands Space Office to distribute agricultural information to smallholders via the mobile phone. He facilitated workshops for 10 selected project, focussing on the customer journey of the smallholder. In Asia, he advised on the pilot agent banking for the BCEL bank in Laos and expanded the capabilities of the agent appplication.
Previously Ronald worked for 18 years at the international ING bank and created synergy between channels call and intranet. He operationalised a site that improved the cooperation and professionalised the call support for the channel internet. Within ING, Ronald also acquired in-depth knowledge of payment processes such as initiation, processing, clearing / settlement, and reporting. He led a project to boost the microfinance activities inside both the Dutch as well as the Belgian part of the bank. In order to select a new Management information System for 7 MFIs in Ethiopia, Ronald conducted the needs analysis and made a plan for vendor selection.
Ronald was head editor for the Quarterly Andersom 2008 -2012, distributed nation-wide in the Netherlands. Ronald has a Masters in Communication from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He is fluent in English and Dutch and proficient in German and French.
